Little Extra Coco Onion Natural Hair Oil

This review of Little Extra Coco Onion Natural Hair Oil for hair fall control will be an important post for everyone dealing with hair loss and other hair problems. In this review, I’ll talk about hair loss in women, how stress causes hair loss, and how massaging the scalp with a natural science-backed hair oil can greatly help in reducing stress-related hair loss.

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know how busy and taxing the last couple of years have been for my family. We took the major leap of renovating our twenty-year-old house into a brand-new dwelling beyond recognition. As exciting and satisfying as the whole project was, it was indisputably stressful.

From putting our kitchen out of commission to showering in the kids’ bathroom and sleeping in the guest room, it had been a tough tide through and through. And fortunately, though, it’s all over now the stress of it remains. Yes, in the form of hair fall!

And it happened such that just a few months after our dream project was over – exactly at the time we started to enjoy the fruits of our labor – I experienced my worst hair woes – hair loss, hair fall, frizzy and fragile hair.

Despite taking multiple salon spa treatments and trying on different shampoos, my hair fall continued. I was losing hair in clumps. And by clumps, I mean, big bunches of hair in the shower, on my brush, and all over my newly-installed, pristine-white marble floor.

I felt devastated. And decided to tackle the problem with the vigor and organization of an investigative journalist. I found out that when it comes to women, stress is the most significant cause of hair loss among all the other different causes, affecting around one-third of susceptible women.

Statistics suggest that more than 50% of women experience noticeable hair loss at least once in their lifetimes. So even though hair loss is usually more associated with middle-aged men, women are more prone to suffer from stress-related hair loss.

How does stress cause hair loss?

We have around 100,000 hair follicles on our scalp. Of these hair follicles, about 85% to 90% are in the anagen phase (growing) at any given time. The rest are in the telogen phase (resting). Meaning that hair will fall out. So, it is normal for any person to lose around 50-100 hairs each day.

However, when someone encounters sudden extreme stress like the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of job, house change, etc., or undergoes a long period of chronic stress such as some illness, depression, etc., it triggers an episode of telogen effluvium – an abnormal shift of hairs into the telogen phase all at once. So, you may lose around as many as 300 hairs a day instead of the normal 50-100.

Why do we lose hair after a stressful period?

What happens during a stressful period is that our body diverts its energy away from non-essential functions like hair growth to more important things such as survival. So, when we’re stressed our bodies produce a stress hormone called cortisol that signals our hair follicles to shift from the growth phase into the resting or falling out phase making us lose an enormous amount of hair all of a sudden at a rapid rate.

How to reduce hair loss due to stress?

While there is no official treatment for hair loss due to stress, massaging the scalp with certain essential oils has now been scientifically proven as an effective remedy for hair loss. The benefits of oiling hair have long been prescribed as a blanket treatment for all hair woes, be it dandruff, premature hair greying, thinning hair, dull hair, or stress-induced hair fall.

So, folks, it seems that our mothers and grandmothers were right about their advice of oiling hair twice a week and leaving this oil overnight for strong and healthy hair. Massaging the scalp with oil increases blood circulation and promotes the flow of nutrients to the scalp thereby nourishing hair and boosting hair growth.

The massaging technique also encourages sound sleep acting like a stress buster, which is the main cause of hair loss. Besides, regular oiling of hair increases the tensile strength of the hair preventing hair breakage and reducing frizz.

However, not all oils are created equal. In the process of experimenting with different products and treatments for combating my current hair fall problem, I have found that natural ingredients backed by science work best in reducing signs of hair loss.

How using a natural science-backed coconut and onion oil is better than other products/treatments for hair fall?

Since the earliest times, nature has provided enduring solutions to all our health and beauty problems, including hair loss. Be it dandruff, hair thinning, dull hair, brittle or fragile hair, natural ingredients like coconut oil, almond oil, aloe vera, onion oil, ginger, curry leaf, Bhringraj, etc. have long been the most effective remedies.

These natural herbs and oils are loaded with essential nutrients like vitamins A, E, D, etc. which are important for building strong hair follicles. The other good thing about using natural hair oils is that being devoid of any chemicals or other artificial ingredients, the chance of getting side effects is greatly reduced.

A relaxing scalp massage with a natural hair oil goes a long way in reducing stress, boosting blood circulation, and inducing a good night’s sleep. So, if your hair loss is mainly due to stress, a good coconut or onion oil should do the trick. As for me, I found the cure for my hair fall problem in Little Extra Coco Onion Natural Hair Oil.

My Experience with Little Extra Coco Onion Natural Hair Oil

Enriched with powerful botanicals like onion, ginger, fenugreek, and curry leaf the oil is scientifically crafted and formulated to stimulate hair growth. Also, the fatty acids in the oil help the potent herb actives to penetrate deep into the hair roots, along with combating inflammation and irritation of the scalp.

Naturally, as the brand claims, the oil is effective in reducing and curing stress-induced hair loss and other hair woes. I’m not a fan of hair oils but I’d been so crushed by my current stressful environment and its consequential hair loss that I’ve used this regimen consistently for one full month.

And I’m glad to state that I’m satisfied!

I have seen some improvement in shedding during the last one week. Though, haven’t noticed any new growth or baby hair yet. Maybe, it takes time. But I’m greatly relieved with the fact that it has reduced my hair fall and made my brittle, frizzy hair a bit stronger and smoother.

My hairs feel shiny and bouncy whenever I use this oil before shampoo. That’s it for this time!
