Huts and Looms Handloom Tissue Saree Review

Why are handloom tissue sarees all the rage at recent weddings and festive functions?

Because they’re incredibly convenient, versatile, light-weight and they add a touch of glamour to the event. What’s more, with Bollywood beauties from Shraddha to Deepika to Janhvi to Mira Rajput and Katrina Kaif rocking tissue sarees at every event, the temptation to add one to your collection is justified.

Unsurprisingly, I found myself looking for a tissue saree online for an upcoming family wedding. And while I am not a saree person, I do love the elegance of a comfortable drape on special occasions. That said, my browsing led me to a sustainable handloom saree brand, Huts and Looms and I was impressed with their sweeping range of sarees in numerous colours and fabrics.

And because I was specifically looking for a tissue saree, it didn’t take me long to press the hit button on this gorgeous tissue saree in a lilac hue. Now that I have received the saree and feel proud of my purchase, I wish to share my experience and review of Huts and Looms sarees with you.

Review of Huts and Looms Handloom Tissue Saree in Lilac Lilly

Describe the brand in five words.

Sustainable. Indian. Handloom. Ethnic-wear. Budget-friendly.

What it is?

A 5.5-meter-long handloom tissue saree in pastel purple colour. The blouse piece is not included in the length and can be purchased extra from the website.

What is tissue fabric?

Huts and Looms Handloom Tissue Saree Review

Tissue fabric is a lightweight, shimmering drapery created by blending silk with metallic threads, such as zari (gold or silver). The unique blend creates a glossy, translucent fabric with a smooth texture.

The textile is often used for crafting traditional Indian garments like sarees, lehengas, and dupattas, as well as in high-end fashion for its luxurious and opulent appeal.

The fabric’s delicate nature and reflective quality make it popular for festive and formal wear.

How much does it cost?

The 5.5-meter-long huts and loom handloom tissue saree is priced at INR 3795.

How’s the colour and quality?

It’s a beautiful metallic lilac colour with silver undertones. All the glamorous appeal of this saree comes from its stunning purple hue and the shimmer of the fabric.

The important thing about this saree is that it’s handcrafted and is not machine-made. And hence, the quality is superb. The saree looks the same as shown in the pictures on the website.

What’s the packaging like?

The first thing I noticed about this saree is its thoughtful packaging. The saree comes carefully packaged in a lovely handwoven fabric bag. This makes it convenient and secure to store the delicate handcrafted tissue saree.

How to take care of your handloom tissue saree?

Tissue is a delicate fabric. So, refrain from washing your tissue saree. Washing may damage the fine threads of the fabric and dull its shine.

Always dry clean your tissue sarees and use only a low-heat iron to remove wrinkles and creases. You can also place a cotton cloth over the saree while ironing for added protection.

For storage, wrap the saree and store it in a breathable muslin cloth to protect it from moisture, dust, and insects. Take care to keep it away from direct sunlight and damp areas to avoid fading or fabric deterioration

What’s good about Huts and Looms Handloom Tissue Saree?

  1. It’s a handwoven saree and not machine-made
  2. It’s made from tissue fabric which is all the rage these days and speaks for the contemporary appeal of this saree.
  3. Priced at under 4k, the saree is pocket-friendly for a festive outfit.
  4. The fabric is extremely light-weight, comfortable to wear and feels super-soft on the skin.
  5. As a solid, shimmery saree in a pale purple hue, it can be styled in numerous ways for various occasions, dressing up or down.

What’s not so good about this saree?

The only con I’ve found about this saree is that it does not come with a running blouse. Not having a blouse piece included makes it a task to order a separate fabric or pre-stitched blouse with this saree.

My experience with Huts and Looms Handloom tissue saree

I loved the prompt way the saree arrived within a few days of placing the order on the website. The cloth bag packaging was impressive and praise-worthy.

I was also impressed by the superior quality of the fabric and its lovely lilac colour. I plan to style it with a silver halter-neck blouse and have already placed an order for the same.

Once I receive the blouse, I’ll update this post with my pictures. Until then, I wish you guys a fun-filled week ahead.
