Oh winter,

How much I hate you – you’re just so damned cold and dark!

For a while a there, you had me totally under your curse – locked up in my room, snuggled inside the quilt with nothing much to do but brood over the darkening days.

Now with sun shining in all its glory – thank God, I’m totally over you.

Valentine’s is past, birds are back, leaves are green – ah, welcome to spring!

I am a fragrance person and I love using distinctive scents when the seasons change. And so to welcome spring I have bought this orange scented Satsuma Body Polish from The Body Shop Satsuma range because it just seemed so fresh and springy to me.

A couple of months back I tried – Hair for Sure tonic from Athena Life Sciences for my hair loss problem and –came away totally impressed. I decided to keep an eye on the brand.

I often get dandruff from time to time, particularly when the seasons change. And to treat it I often reach for an anti-dandruff shampoo – sometimes Dove, sometimes Heads & Shoulders depending on the condition of my hair and scalp. But while these shampoos are effective in treating dandruff, they leave me with super dry hair.

I have dry, wavy hairs that tend to get all the more dry and unruly in hot, humid weather. So quite rationally, I always use some sort of leave-in hair oil or conditioner on my ends to keep them throwing any wild fits. But still no matter how well they behave indoors, when the temperature soars outside and humidity proliferates, they turn into feral vampires.

I had been using L’Oreal Professional Liss Unlimited leave in cream to keep my hair looking calm and smooth. But this was back when I was using flat iron every other day to straighten my hair and it left me with super dry, frizzy hair. Hello, wonderful people! Aren’t you glad it’s Friday? TGIF!

And since we’re getting down to the New Year wire, party season is in full swing. Speaking of parties, I can’t remember, when was the last time I went to an actual cocktail party?  It may have been 2007. Or 2008? Possibly in Mumbai?

But if you ask me about the last time I had a cocktail, I can tell you it was in December last year at a jazzy lounge in Hyatt Regency. The occasion was my wedding anniversary.  So come December and I start getting this craving for two things – tea and cocktails!

If there’s nothing that can substitute my cup of tasty tea in the morning, there’s not much that can substitute my desire for a luscious cocktail to warm up and brighten my evening. Put these two together and you have the recipe ready for a good stiff drink! Continue reading
