Patanjali Saundarya Face Wash for Oily Skin:Review

From the last few months, I’ve been scouring Patanjali store for an array of SLS free stuff. Last month I reviewed their natural hair cleanser, Patanjali Kesh Kanti shampoo for normal hair. Check the review here. And today I’m going to review one of their popular face cleansers, Saundarya face wash.

My Experience with Patanjali Saundarya Face Wash

Patanjali Saundarya Face Wash for Oily Skin:ReviewEver since the arrival of official summer, my combination skin has got into an oil overdrive.  Quite logically, I’ve been on the prowl for an effective cleanser to break up all of this excess oil secretion. Reading rave reviews on other beauty blogs about Saundarya face wash for oily skin, I decided to give this herbal face wash a try.

Packaging:

Quite opposite to its desi brand name, the herbal face wash comes in a smart white tube packaging with a flip-open cap. It is sleek, travel-friendly and convenient to use.

Scent:

Since, it’s a herbal cleanser made from natural extracts like orange peel, neem, and tulsi, I expected it to have herbaceous citrus scent. But nope – it actually smells quite floral – may be a bit powdery too but nothing like fresh oranges or herbaceous neem and tulsi.

Texture & Performance:

Texture again, unlike most other herbal cleansers with gel-like texture, is soft and creamy. It is pearly white in color with a thick consistency. Only a small, pea-sized amount of cleanser takes care of my entire face. It lathers quickly into rich foam removing all traces of dirt, grime and any oil on my face. Rinsing off the cleanser leaves my skin feeling fresh, clean and sans any greasy residue.

Patanjali Saundarya Face Wash for Oily Skin:ReviewHowever, I have one issue with Saundarya face wash for oily skin. While, it does succeeds in removing excess oil from skin and making skin look brighter, it leaves skin feeling tight and stretchy after a few minutes post rinsing. Since, your eye area is extremely delicate and sensitive; I wouldn’t recommend you to use this cleanser around your peepers to prevent any premature lines or crow’s feet.

This is not the first time; I have faced this issue with a cleanser for oily skin. Many of the OTC foaming cleansers for oily skin have been found to cause dryness. Pond’s white beauty is one such cleanser.

But anyhow, I like the fact that it’s natural, free from SLS, and come at an affordable price. The brand says it’s made from totally natural ingredients that work to remove excess oil and improve skin quality overtime.

Pros:

  • Highly affordable face-wash for oily skin
  • SLS free face wash
  • Contains orange peel, neem, tulsi and aloe-vera to cleanse and revitalize skin
  • Smart, convenient packaging
  • Mild floral fragrance
  • Rich creamy texture that lathers well
  • Effective in removing oil and dirt

Cons:

  • Only available at Patanjali stores
  • Does not treat acne
  • Not suitable for dry skin

R2B Rating: 3.5/5

Overall Take:

Overall, Patanjali Saundarya face wash is an average product that neither works like a charm and nor is an epic failure. If you are looking for an affordable drugstore cleanser for oily skin that is free from SLS and chemicals, do give this Patanjali herbal face wash a try.

Perfectly reviewed. The benefits it provides complements the cost very well. I have used it for almost 3-4 months continuously. Later I switched onto love nature neem face wash by Oriflame and this worked wonders for my skin type- Combination skin. My acne is under control and I am loving the glow on my face.
