Hello lovely ladies!
Let’s break Monday monotony by talking about the small things in life that bring us joy – like that first sip of coffee in the morning – oh! It fills me with life!
Or that cute little puppy who tries to follow you down the street.
Or that lingering glance over my bedside table to find it stacked with new skincare finds – one of them being Kaya Youth Advance Retinoboost Serum – my latest retinol serum from Kaya Skin Clinic.
If you’re a skincare connoisseur, you know when it comes to aging skin, retinol is the gold standard. It is one of the best-studied skincare ingredients and the most highly recommended anti-aging product by dermatologists across the world.
So, when I learned about the launch of this new retinol serum by Kaya Skin Clinic, my favorite skincare brand, I got really excited to try it. I am not new to retinoids. I’ve used retinol many times before. Only recently I finished a bottle of The Derma Co 2% grano active retinoid serum.
And I do intend to use it again but before that, I’m going to try Kaya Retinoboost serum and who knows after using Kaya I don’t get back to The Derma Co again! Without further ado, let’s go straight to my review of Kaya retinoboost serum and its results.
Kaya Youth Advance Retinoboost Serum Review
Describe the brand in three words
Dermatologically Tested. Indian.
What is it?
An anti-aging face serum with retinol.
What retinoid category does the product falls into?
Gentle/beginner.
In fact, this retinol serum is so gentle that I used it every night for one full week without any sign of irritation or breakouts.
What form of vitamin A (I.e., Retinol, retinoate, retinyl palmitate, etc.) is in the product?
Retinol. Made from vitamin A, retinol boosts the production of collagen in your skin making it taut and plump, while also increasing cell turnover to reveal fresher younger looking skin.
Who is it for?
Anyone looking for the extra boost that retinol gives but older skins will notice the benefits sooner with more dramatic results (as is the case with most retinol products). So people who are facing dull skin and fine lines due to life stresses should benefit the most from this serum.
What’s in it?
Kaya Retinoboost Serum is a potent combination of Matrixyl 3000 (peptides), Retinol, Niacinamide, and Hyaluronic Acid.
What’s not in it?
Mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
Does it contain possibly acne/allergy causing in any ingredient?
No.
How does it smell?
A mild floral scent that is pleasing to the senses.
Packaging:
Air-tight, pump dispenser in an attractive white and purple glass bottle.
How do you use it?
Apply only a few drops of the product on cleansed face and neck massaging in an upward and downward direction.
Where in your skincare routine?
The brand says to use it AM and PM in your skincare routine. But I would suggest you use it around bedtime as retinols are known to make your skin more sun sensitive. Also, be diligent with your sun protection during the day to keep your newer skin intact.
What’s good about it?
First, it’s from Kaya Skin Clinic, a brand specially developed and tested by dermatologists for Indian skin concerns.
Second, along with retinol, it’s formulated with well-researched and proven anti-aging actives like peptides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid. Niacinamide, on its own, is known to help strengthen weakened skin, and improve enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, and fine lines.
Add to that the peptides and hyaluronic acid and you can see the goal of this serum and why younger people won’t benefit much from this. Where peptides make the skin firm and tight, the hyaluronic acid in this serum deeply hydrates and moisturizes mature skin making it plump and radiant.
What’s not so good about it?
Price. The bottle could have been bigger with more product given the hefty price tag.
Would I repurchase or buy it again?
Yes. Because it is gentle on the skin, has an appeasing fragrance, and works great for old skin.
Do you need this?
Yes, if you have any of the following concerns:
- Signs of stress or a tired-looking face
- Dull and dehydrated skin
- Uneven skin tone
- Fine lines and wrinkles
You don’t need this if:
- You’re young with healthy, normal skin
- You’re in your late 20s or early 30s with a good lifestyle and eating habits
My Personal Experience with the Product
Being a retinol enthusiast, I have used a lot of retinol products both over-the-counter and prescription ones. Some were good, some were okay and some turned out to be really horrible ones causing irritation and break-outs.
But I think this retinol serum has turned out to be my favorite one to date. The way it has suited my skin seems to me like it’s made for my face and my current life stresses. Each night I use it, I wake up with a very nice soft glow on my face. My skin has got incredibly calmer and any redness and blemishes I had, seem to be fading away.
While nothing can compare with prescription retinol, if your skin is not quite ready for that, Kaya youth advance retinoboost face serum is a great way to go in the meantime.
