It’s that time of the year again, when time moves with such an odd pace that makes me feel like we’re in a different time stream or something. Sun is been playing hide and seek since last two weeks and today it’s overcast with complete lack of sunlight; making every hour of the day feel the same, creating sort of an off-beat mood which (I think?) I like.
Don’t know about you but it’s the crispness of cold days that stimulates my imagination making these winter months perfect for blogging. So here I am, going to make another round of cinnamon tea as my mind works on the muse for today’s post – ‘my best products for skin and makeup routine’.
So speaking of vanity, one thing I totally do and never miss, no matter what season, day or time of the year is – my regular skincare and makeup routine. Would you believe, I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and followed my complete night skincare routine as usual just an hour after delivering my baby girl! Now that’s commitment!
Although, I keep making little adjustments to my skincare and makeup routine from time to time, I thought I’d share the process and products I’m using now for my winter-dry skin.
My Best Products for Skin and Makeup Routine Step-wise:
Step 1 Cleansing:
In winters, when my skin is at its height of dryness, I begin each day by washing my face with a hydrating cleanser, my favorite pick for the season is Dove beauty moisture face wash or The Body Shop Vitamin E face wash. Sometimes I just skip the step and wash my face with water alone or wipe it clean with a cotton ball soaked in rose water, read Kama Ayurveda pure rose water.
During summer months, however, when my oily skin gets into ballistic mode, I like to use a toner specially made for sensitive and oily skin after washing my face with a foaming cleanser. My preferred pick for the season is Sebamed Clear Face Deep Cleansing Toner to unclog my pores.
Step 2 Moisturizing:
Since baby girl is giving me sleepless nights these days, I’ve been using L’Oreal White Perfect Micro Vibration Eye brightening cream around my eyes to control puffiness and brighten up my under eye area. To treat my face and neck, I then slather on a hydrating moisturizer, preferably Olay Total Effects 7 in one anti aging cream to address multiple factors all in one go.
True, over the years, I’ve used a ton of different face moisturizers, but seriously, this is one of my best products for skin that I never go tire of using. Not only is it super hydrating but it has never caused me any breakouts. The added SPF and seven anti aging benefits are like the icing on the cake.
Step 3 Make-up:
Face:
To even out blotchy skin caused by late night party or long hours of work in the night, I prefer to apply a hydrating BB cream. My best pick for the season is L’Oreal True Match BB cream that comes with hyaluronic acid for 24 hour moisture and brightening effect.
Eyes:
Besides defining my eyes with a kohl, I sometimes I like to use white or gold eye pencil on lower waterline and inner corner of the eyes to open up my eyes. I also dab on a little bit of concealer under my eyes to lift and brighten the under eye area. Though, I’m currently using Focus & Fix concealer by Makeup Revolution, my favorite pick is Maybelline Fit Me concealer as I’ve found it to be one of the best concealers for oily skin.
Lips:
During cold months, when my lips are at their driest, I opt to use ultra hydrating lip balms or lip butters over regular tinted ones. My top picks are Nivea lip butters and pot lip balms from The Body Shop. Since, I usually aim for a bare-faced look, I avoid deep and dark shades of lipsticks and prefer chubby sticks and lip crayons in nudes and pinks for natural look. My favorite is Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Crème in Pink Sorbet.
Finally, I finish by applying a highlighter liberally all across on top of my cheekbones, bridge of my nose and on my chin. My go-to is Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow as it works great both as a highlighter and blush for a soft, radiant glow.
Though, it’s more summery than wintry, but that’s okay. Here’s my early morning selfie after bath and skincare rituals:
So girls, there you have it – my best products for skin and makeup routine. I hope you find something promising in it.
