Here comes the SUN – screen review!
Yes girls, summer is almost in and time is apt for sunscreen review. There are plenty of newest sunscreens out in the market and picking one from a plethora of options is indeed difficult. So if you are new to UV journey or looking to try a new sunscreen, here is Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel sunscreen spf 50 to get you started.
Review of Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50
This Lotus matte gel sunscreen is perfect sunscreen for oily skin and is one of my favorite sunscreens from the brand. I love the way it gets absorbed quickly into the skin leaving a flawlessly neat and clean finish. The light moisturizing formula doesn’t leave my skin even a bit greasy or sticky, so I can slather a generous amount (*recommended*; because most sunscreens being sticky, we tend to put in lesser quantity of sunscreen than recommended) both on my face and neck for proper protection.
In terms of texture, this Lotus matte sunscreen has a translucent white gel like texture, which is neither too thick like cream nor too runny like lotion. Plus, despite being a matte sunscreen for oily skin, it does not dry out the skin or leave a dry lusterless look to the skin like the other Lotus matte spf 40 tinted sunscreen.
It rather leaves a very fine sheen to the skin that looks clean and supple. So you need not worry about applying a separate moisturizer with this sunscreen in summers. Also, since it gets absorbed so quickly and perfectly into the skin, you can easily wear it under your makeup without making the base look patchy.
Sun Protection Factor:
Now talking about the most essential part – Sun-protection; the Lotus sunscreen is SPF 50, PA +++, thus offering decent protection against both UVA and UVB rays. No wonder, this turns out to be one of the best sunscreens for Indian summers in the market today.
Scent:
But what really sets this sunscreen apart from the rest in the market is its scent or the lack of scent! Yes, Lotus has nailed it down here – producing a non-sticky, non-oily, high spf, matte gel sunscreen that is odorless – hence making it perfect sunscreen for oily skin and sensitive skin.
Not a Water-proof Formula:
However, I have one issue with this Lotus matte sunscreen – it does not resist sweat and water. Since it’s not a water-proof sunscreen, you need to re-apply every time it gets washed down with sweat or water.
Packaging & Price:
The Lotus matte gel sunscreen spf 50 comes in a typical Lotus orange colored tube packaging with flip-open cap.
Priced at INR 295 for 50g, Lotus Herbals Safe Sun spf 50 gel sunscreen is certainly not the cheapest sunscreen around. But it is not the most expensive one around either. It’s a tad less expensive than Vichy SPF 50 Mattifying face fluid that is priced at INR 1200 for 50g!
I’m using the sunscreen regularly from last one month and it hasn’t caused any break outs or skin irritation so far. I have even used it for long hours in the sun and this sunscreen has effectively prevented me from any skin tan or burning.
Pros:
- Non-sticky, matte gel sunscreen
- Light moisturizing formula
- Contains high spf 50 with PA +++
- Does not cause break-outs or allergy
- Does not leave grey or white-cast on skin
- Get absorbed quickly
- Decently priced
- Prevents skin tanning and sun burns
Cons
- Not a water-proof sunscreen
- Contains parabens
R2B Rating: 4.5/5
Overall Take:
Overall, it’s a wonderful matte sunscreen from Lotus Herbals that is non-sticky, non-oily with decent UV protection of SPF 50, PA+++ and is also decently priced compared to other high-end sunscreens. Do give this Lotus gel sunscreen a try if you have normal skin, oily skin, or even sensitive skin.
It has been my HG for long…i just wish they remove parabens 🙂
