Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protein Shampoo Review

It’s been almost five months now that I’ve been using Patanjali Kesh Kanti line of hair cleansers. My craze for Patanjali shampoos started, when I bought my first bottle of Patanjali Kesh Kanti Natural hair cleanser for brittle, falling hair without any expectation from the brand/shampoo to work, but was totally amazed with the results.

The shampoo worked on my dry, brittle hair and oily scalp better than any reputed drugstore shampoo or professional salon product. After that bottle got over, I got my second and third bottles of different variants from the same herbal brand. And quite frankly to say, I wasn’t disappointed with any of the variants.

While, I must confess I have used Professional shampoos in between (L’Oreal Professional Absolut Repair shampoo, L’Oreal Professional Serie Expert Force Vector shampoo etc .) but have kept coming back to Patanjali hair cleansers mainly because:

  • they do not contain heavy silicones
  • are full of herbs and natural ingredients
  • add bounce to my hair
  • and especially because they come at a highly affordable price (so no regret even if they do not work!)

Recently, I have bought their Protein variant – Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser with Milk Protein for dry, rough hair and here comes its review after two weeks of consistent usage with no professional shampoo or treatment in between.

Price: 95/-

Quantity: 200 ml

What it does:

The milk protein shampoo by Patanjali claims to treat dry, rough hair while preventing hair from falling and improving hair shine and texture overtime.

Active ingredients include:

Bhringraj, Mehendi, Neem, Tulsi and Aloe Vera

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protein Shampoo ReviewBase material is composed of:

Aqua, surfactant base, vitamin E, hydrolyzed milk protein, diazolidinyl urea, added preservative and perfumes.

Performance:

I shampoo my hair thrice a week during summer months and for just once or twice a week during winter season. So no wonder, I like my shampoo to be clarifying, moisturizing and do not weigh down my hair with heavy silicones or other such ingredients.

Patanjali milk protein shampoo more or less delivers on all these three demands. It clarifies without stripping my hair, moisturizes without making my scalp oily or weighing down my tresses.  It has a milky runny texture that generates good lather thereby cleaning my hair very well.

I find this to be the best part of this shampoo – it leaves me with a squeaky clean scalp and bouncy, shiny tresses. I had used the Aloe Vera variant before but I found that to be making my scalp greasy and tresses frizzy. But I’m happy to say this Milk Protein shampoo performs well in this regard.

It effectively cleans my scalp and hair and my hair stay in bouncy condition for almost three days. Of course, the results may vary for those with excessively greasy or dry hair and scalp but I’m glad about the fact it works quite well for me.

It has a light, slightly floral scent that smells fine and doesn’t linger on your hair for too long.

Now for the catch:

It’s a surfactant base shampoo, meaning it contains chemicals, which is big con for a herbal shampoo or brand. Secondly, I cannot say for sure, if the shampoo is really making my hair stronger with milk proteins or nourishing my scalp with herbs.

Since all I can feel and say is that the shampoo smells good and works just fine, which is good enough for me for the time being until I experience some major hair crisis later in life.

Pros:

  • Effective in clearing all grease, grime, dirt, and product build-up from the scalp
  • Hair look bouncy and shiny after wash and stay that way for another 2-3 days
  • Lathers well
  • Highly inexpensive
  • Mild floral scent
  • Does not strip hair of their natural moisture
  • Does not contain heavy silicones
  • Moisturizes without weighing down hair

Cons:

  • Contains chemicals
  • Not a travel-friendly packaging (loose flip-open cap may lead to spilling of product)
  • Available only at Patanjali stores

R2B Rating: 3.8/5

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Milk Protein Shampoo ReviewOverall Take:

All in all, Patanjali kesh kanti milk protein shampoo is a great pick for dry hair. It makes hair look clean, shiny and bouncy. Do give this shampoo a try, if you have normal to oily or dry scalp and dry, rough hair. Best part is the shampoo is too light on the pocket and is also available in small sachets of 8 ml pricing 3 Rs. each. So even if the shampoo doesn’t work, you don’t have to regret for wasting your hard-earned money.

But if you’re looking for a purely herbal or natural shampoo without any chemicals, you may be in for some disappointment as the shampoo does contain some chemicals.
