You also can ask for help from writing experts even while seeking MBA assignment help as it can show you how to write content in the right way. In this blog post, I’ll talk all about lifestyle blogging, what it takes to be a renowned lifestyle blogger and how you too can be a successful lifestyle blogger and make money online in 2022.

What is a lifestyle blog? Or what it means to have a lifestyle blog?

Honestly speaking, I’ve always been intrigued by the term ‘lifestyle blog’ because if you think about it, any topic be it travel, fashion, food, health, beauty etc. is part of the lifestyle. So, a lifestyle blog technically is a blog that is a reflection of your activities, interests, skills, and experiences in life.

The best thing about lifestyle blogs is that you don’t have to be an expert in any field or lifestyle in general because all you’re doing is simply sharing your life or interests online.

Niche blog or a broad blog topic

In your lifestyle blog, you can choose to write or share content about one thing that you love or you can simply write about your day-to-day experiences and life in general. Let’s say you are a stay-at-home mom who loves to dress up or wear makeup, so you can either blog about your experiences of being a stay-at-home mom or start a niche fashion and beauty blog.

One important tip here is to focus only on one or two niches in the beginning so as to avoid feeling overwhelmed or confused with a wide variety of interests of a broader blog niche.

To tell you a secret, I started Road2beauty as a simple beauty blog focusing on beauty tips and reviews of beauty products that I used and adored. As far as I can remember, I’d always been stimulated by beauty products.

I can still recall that precious moment in all its vivid details – the light in my eyes and butterflies in my stomach when I walked up to a shop nearby my home to purchase my first lip balm.

It was an ordinary lip balm and I was 13 at the time!

A beauty blog was a natural choice.

Little did I know back then in 2013, when I started my blog that it’ll eventually transition into a ‘lifestyle blog’ covering a wide variety of topics such as the latest fashion trends, cosmetic treatments, healthy foods, best supplements to add to your diet and a multitude of things that embody every-day life.

Think of blogging as a journey. There is always room for expansion and growth. Your small baby steps, in the beginning, would not only prevent you from giving up but would later transmorph into stepping-stones to a larger change.

Moreover, encompassing all at once in the very beginning may also harm your credibility. So, start small and once you build your trust and audience, you can go on to add more topics later on. No matter how lucrative it sounds to earn cash from something you love but running a successful lifestyle blog or being a renowned influencer isn’t a cakewalk.

How to be a successful lifestyle blogger?

To be a successful lifestyle blogger and make money from it requires grit and patience. Here are some tips from pro-bloggers to help you start out on your dream of a winning career in lifestyle blogging:

  1. Pick your niche

The first step in being a successful lifestyle blogger is picking your niche. Pick something that has always captured your interest, something that you’re never bored of talking about, something that aligns with who you are.

If you love experimenting with makeup, start a beauty blog; if it’s the latest style trends that move you, start a fashion blog; if you enjoy cooking to the core, start a food blog and if you’re a fitness fanatic start a health blog.

Like in the case of Ashley Beougher, who is steadily gaining her ground as a successful social media influencer with her unique blog Travelling Graces, focussed primarily on travelling with kids. What makes her travel blog stand out from other blogs in the niche is the common theme that runs through all her posts.

If you notice carefully all her blog posts, vlogs, Insta reels and other content is tied together with the continual motif of sharing new adventures and different experiences together as a family

Just like Ashley has found the USP of her blog in her distinctive voice, you need to discover your forte and find out what makes you unique.

Once you’ve identified your strengths and picked on your niche, stick to it.

  • Choose your platform

With a wide variety of social media platforms, the possibilities for a lifestyle influencer are endless. But this doesn’t mean you need to have your presence on all social media platforms to be successful. Some platforms align better with certain lifestyle niches.

For example, where Twitter is prevalent among B2B influencers in business, entrepreneurship, and digital marketing spheres, Instagram being more of a visual platform is particularly popular among beauty and fashion influencers such as Kylie Jenner.

And if you’re like me, who loves writing, then a self-hosted platform, WordPress.org is the best foundation for building a successful lifestyle blog.

  • Create crushing content

Now that you’ve found your niche and picked your platform, it’s time to create content. In the digital realm that we live in, content is the king. So, crafting valuable content for your audience is one of the key steps to building a promising career in lifestyle blogging.

Your content must provide your readers with the very solutions to their quandaries. Know your target audience well, find out what troubles them, and then create mouth-watering content around it that your readers can’t resist.

Use power words, emotional expressions, and story-telling to give your content an extra umph and character. As a blogger, you have only one responsibility – to serve your audience.

You serve your followers with authentic content and they will serve you with their trust and loyalty.

  • Be consistent

It is not enough to write killing blog posts, you must be consistent as well. Find a schedule that you can follow and then bind to it fully. Just like in life, consistency in your posts will go a long way into building reliability and trust among your followers.

So, whether you have an Instagram account, a Facebook page or a blog, you need to be consistent to get successful.

  • Promote your content

Okay, your blog is live. You are producing quality posts on a regular basis. Now what?

Well, you need to promote your content as well.

If nobody knows you have such high-quality content on your blog, why would anyone even pay a visit?

To get and grow blog traffic, you need to make people aware of your posts. How?

By leveraging the power of social media! Sharing it with your family and friends, sharing the links to your posts on all your social media channels, installing social media sharing buttons on your blog home page and each blog post, sending emails etc.

  • Develop your digital marketing skills

Just like a brand or a business, your blog too requires serious marketing to expand your reader/follower base. Be active on social media channels like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc. Add appropriate hashtags to all your social media posts.

Participate in conversations. Add valuable comments to other blogger’s posts. Follow popular influencers in your niche. Attend bloggers meets and events to expand your digital presence and build your network.

  • Respond to your readers’ comments and queries

As your readership grows and more people start valuing your content, they’re likely to leave their feedback in DMs and comments. You might find replying to each and every comment a daunting task but let me tell you from personal experience, it’s one of the best things you can do for your audience and for strengthening their connection with your blog.

  • Monetize your blog

No matter how much traffic you get or how popular you become; you cannot call yourself a successful lifestyle blogger if you haven’t started making any money from your blog yet.

Even though, the options and possibilities of making money from a lifestyle blog in 2022 are endless, here are my top three tried and tested ways to monetize your blog:

  1. Affiliate marketing

You’ll be surprised to know that most big-name bloggers earn a major chunk of their income by promoting and selling affiliate products. Even if you’re a beginner or don’t have much traffic on your blog, you can still earn a decent amount of money with affiliate links on your blog.

Just make sure to promote only those products that are relevant to your nice and target audience.

  • Sponsored posts

When my blog was only a few months old I received my first sponsored post request!

It was from a hair colour brand and I earned $ 30 for trying and reviewing their product on my blog. True, 30 bucks isn’t enormous. It’s little if I think of the amount of time I spent toiling and working on my blog.

But making that first income from my blog was big!

It was a validation of my blog’s potential. And it was just the beginning.

Today I receive multiple sponsored post requests each day. And sometimes I don’t even have to write, brands pay me for simply publishing their content on my blog. Now isn’t this exciting?

  • Google AdSense

Google AdSense is another way to grab some bucks from your blog. It’s simple to set up and maintain. You can place Google ads on any page or post of your blog and each time when someone clicks on those ads, you get paid!

While the amount per click is negligible, if your blog traffic is high, those pennies are going to pile up! So even if it’s not as lucrative as affiliate marketing and brand sponsorships, it’s good enough to start out.

Final Thoughts

Lifestyle blogs are the latest rage in influencer marketing. People come to them for connection and relatability. And brands are turning to them for expanding their reach and drive conversions.

Even though the market might seem saturated with more than 500 million blogs right now, you can still make an impression and carve out your niche with your creativity and authenticity. If you’re honest and enjoy what you do, no one can stop you from being a successful lifestyle blogger.
