Wedding Asia 2014 Park PlazaWhen it comes to the Indian Beauty Blogging world, I am the most unsocial beauty blogger. In the sense, I don’t attend any meets I’m invited to, I’m cut off from the latest scoops on gossip and I don’t keep tab on what fellow bloggers are doing. I’m like that high school kid who’s good into books, does her work well but remains aloof from any extra-curricular activities that might be going on in the school.

Just like extra-curricular activities are as important as studies for well rounded development, socializing is as important as writing good posts, helping readers with helpful information, and swooning Google page rank to really succeed in the beauty blogging world. So this time, when I received an invite for Asia’s largest wedding exhibition ‘Wedding Asia 2014’ to be held at hotel Majestic Park Plaza in Ludhiana, I literally jumped to the opportunity.

Wedding Asia 2014 Park PlazaThe grand Wedding Expo was a three day extravaganza that started on Friday, 22 August, 2014 and ended on Sunday, 24 August, 2014 in four royal halls of hotel Park Plaza in the city. Majestic Park Plaza is one of the oldest five star hotels in the city that is well known for hosting and organizing most of the glitzy events, ceremonies, and shows in the city. The extravagant wedding shopping fest was organized by Excelsior Group, again known for its established tradition of presenting luxe, glamorous events in the city.

The three day exhibition not only showcased creations from veteran designer labels but also provided an opportunity to budding fashion designers to introduce their creations to the world. It was like a one stop shop for all kinds of wedding paraphernalia. Amidst the glamour of gowns & sarees, and glitter of gems & jewelry shone the unique concept of this season’s wedding fest, ‘Wedding Asia Polo Bride’! The concept provides an experience of splendor against the framework of a royal sport.

My Experience at Wedding Asia August 2014

Wedding Asia 2014 Park PlazaEntering the Wedding Asia Exhibition was like entering a grand bridal party with aisles of the country’s best wedding products and services under one roof. From designer bridal & groom’s wear to designer gems & jewelry, from unique fashion accessories to luxe cosmetics, from theme wedding planners to wedding cinematography, you name it and they had it.

Wedding Asia 2014 Park PlazaI was hoping to meet some fellow bloggers but unfortunately I turned out to be the only beauty blogger to attend the event (there are not much fashion and beauty bloggers who blog from Ludhiana). None the less, I was more than excited to meet and interact with some of the reputed fashion designers like Amit Talwar, Vishal & Mansi, Nagmani and Chirag Shukla.

The highlights of this 12th edition of fashion in bridal wear were mainly soft and muted fabrics, lots of layers, vintage gowns, unique draping styles fusion dresses especially the sari dress, tunics, corsets, shararas and extravagant lehengas. In jewelry too, traditional kundan work, antique gold designs, and vintage crystal and stone work saw prominence.

One outfit that literally took my breath away was a peacock inspired evening gown/fusion dress designed by budding designer Nagmani Roy from Delhi. Have a look:

However, the stall that captured my maximum attention and time was, yes you guessed it right, a beauty products one. It was truly a delightful experience to meet this lady from Delhi, who creates and formulates her own beauty products under the label, ‘Nature Bound’.

It turned out to be a super informative interaction and I learnt some interesting facts about skincare and beauty products. Will surely put a post on this for you all. She does not market or advertises her products and only sell through exhibitions in five star hotels. I got truly serious, when one of her customers turned up to reorder products from her.

The skin of this customer looked unbelievably smooth and radiant for a woman in her late 40s! I felt tempted to buy. The lady gave me an ‘ubtan’ made from 32 different herbs and asked me to use it daily in place of my regular face wash and then notice the difference in my skin in two weeks! Will keep you posted on this 14 day no face wash challenge as well. Stay tuned.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Wedding Asia Exhibition at Majestic Park Plaza in Ludhiana. It was a good socializing opportunity and an amazing learning event. Learnt about the latest trends in wedding fashion and planning. Loved interacting with designers, greatly enjoyed the complimentary foot massage ‘Four Fountains’ leading Mobile Spa services chain in the country and delicious sweets from Lovely Sweets, Jalandhar.

Look forward to the next big fat wedding in November.
