Everyone hears about celebrities having personal trainers, and bragging about being trained by someone who works with Hollywood stars is not uncommon either. It’s a usual race for popularity, and the race got wheels. Spinning became a new trend in exercising and Hollywood Cycle took an opportunity to grab hold of it. The wheels are indeed spinning in this reality show, where young fitness trainers fight hard in order to become the best in what they do. Or, that’s what this show was supposed to be.

There’s a lot of energy during spinning classes in nightclub-like setting, but the exercise itself doesn’t seem to be the driving force of the show. It becomes more obvious after each episode that this reality show, like every other, is there for the drama and soap opera moments, and the need of participants to become celebrities themselves is quite apparent.

Inform yourself about different types of exercises

Is indoor cycling a worthwhile fad then? For some people it might be, if done in moderation. Given the fact that there are hundreds of different exercises that you can perform for each muscle group, the logical question would be which are still the best exercises for each muscle group and what exercises that most contribute to muscle growth are. Not all exercises are equally good.

Even if your goal is weight loss, cycling indoors until your muscles feel like they’re going to explode is not such a wise decision. Cardio is good for weight loss, but it won’t get you into shape.

Find something that works for you

There are several ways to achieve progress that have nothing to do with weight loss. Building muscle and improving body composition is one of them. Body composition is the ratio of muscle mass and body fat. As you build muscles, your body composition is improving. As you lose fat, your body composition is improving. But if you build muscle and lose fat at the same time, the figure on the scale will go down for a while and then stop, although the process of building muscle and fat burning continues. Does this mean that there’s no progress? Absolutely not!

The key, in general, is to find the group of exercises that would work well for you individually, and not jump into every exercise trend wagon that comes along. Following the rules given in a reality show like Hollywood Cycle blindly, and going for any other form of exercise that’s hugely popular at the given moment just because a celebrity fitness trainer is doing it, definitely won’t give you those long-term results you wish for. What you need to do is change your lifestyle and listen to your own body.

Food and drinks are as important as working out

The same thing goes for fitness nutrition fads. Even if some kind of food or a snack or a special diet is popular at the moment, it doesn’t mean it will work for you. The point here is the actual word ‘nutrition’. You wouldn’t go to the pharmacist and ask for a drug you heard was good but it wasn’t prescribed to you, would you? So, visit a nutritionist, and have a special diet created just for you and your particular needs.

Still, workout and healthy life fads don’t have to be bad, they just have to be right for you. Be that as it may, tasty post work out drinks are always a good option after a hard training. It is necessary to have a refreshing drink after a hard exercise, one that was created through serious research and technology, to promote muscle repair, replenish energy and reduce muscle breakdown. You can find out more about what a recovery drink can do for you on Amino Z articles.

Basically, leave celebrity-status-seeking, reality show fitness trainers to their own devices and seek professional advice from someone who will make a workout and diet plan for you, and you only. You don’t have to stop watching reality shows, or never try any popular fitness fad, but don’t take them as an absolute law of healthy living.

  1. Nice article 🙂

  2. Personal trainers are important and now as stars, I didn’t know! Well, I know I have to exercise, desperately and immediately 🙂 But I am not such a fan of that, and I am ashamed to say. But it really is on my list, I need to start as soon as possible!
